KAYAK FISHING GROUP FINDS GREEN WATER AT PUNTA COLORADA

I just returned from a week at Punta Colorada with a small group of kayak fishermen. The fishing at East Cape was a bit off as the water temp had dropped to 74 and was pretty green on the inside. Even with tougher conditions, which included one day of very strong wind we had a pretty East Cape good trip. We managed several Roosters up to 45 lbs and countless Jacks. The people fishing offshore where getting a few Marlin, tuna and dorado so I loaded my kayak onto a Panga for an offshore run. My pangero Alonzo and I spotted a tailing Marlin so I tossed my kayak into the water trolling a live mullet, after one failed attempt I baited the fish on twenty pound test. I was on the fish for 2 1/2 hours until I finally landed it. It weighted 140 lbs. This was truly the most exciting thing I have ever done.
