TWO DORADO TO 50 POUNDS CAUGHT BY EAST CAPE
SPORTFISHING BOAT BILL COLLECTOR
Buena Vista, East Cape, Baja California Sur, Mexico Fishing, Rod Albright, Bill Collector, Sept. 5, 2004:
On a short trip for East Cape fishing over the Labor Day Weekend, Jeff Young, Regional Sales Manager for Shimano Tackle Inc., and his best friend David Young, not related, from New York City landed 2 nice dorado.
Jeff's fish was over 50 lbs. his largest dorado, and David's East Cape dorado to around 20 lbs and was his first ever. David also caught and released his first striped marlin. Not bad for a first timer.
The big dorado hit a black and purple Moldcraft chugger attached to a Shimano TLD 50 with matching Shimano rod. Both were guest of Rod and Barb Albright of Buena Vista, B.C.S. Mex. The East Cape fishing was done on the "Bill Collector" a 26 ft. Shamrock powered by a Cummis diesel.
Sat the rain poured at East Cape and we were only able to fish for about 3 hours but long enough for David to catch his marlin. East Cape was feeling the remnants of Huricán Howard which skirted the Pacific side of the Baja peninsula.
Sunday with overcast skies and calmer seas at East Cape, produced the dorado, taken off a debris line from water runoff after the rains.
