NOT TOO MANY BOATS FISHING THIS WEEK IN THE EAST CAPE VACATION AREA

Sept. 3-9, 2004, Axel Valdez, Buena Vista Beach Resort, East Cape, Baja fishing, Mexico:

Total boats out: 11. Fishermen: 42. Weather Temperature: Low to high 90's. Water Temperature: 83 degrees - 85 degrees. Fish count, including released fish: Blue Marlin 1, Striped Marlin 3, Sailfish 5, Dorado 4, Tuna 45, Wahoo 1, Roosterfish 1, Snapper 4, Jack Crevalle 1, Amberjack 1, Bonita 2, Triggerfish 2, Cabrilla 3.

Water Temperature: East Cape fishing water conditions remain as they have all summer long, one of the most stable summers in a long time.

Air Temperature: It suppose to be the hottest month of the year, but it still very nice.

East Cape Fishing Spots and Distance: Not many boats out this week, I think everyone is scared by the hurricanes, but for us locals this is one of the reasons why we say September is the best months of the year, our water is not under such fishing pressure therefore better fishing. You just have to choose the right time to come. Distance is almost none existing, well for tuna like always you have to go a long ride to find them.

Off-shore East Cape Fishing: Bill-fishing was great this past week, dorado slow the way down, tuna some out far, but in front of La Rivera a lot of small tuna.

In-shore East Cape Fishing: Not many guest coming in-shore, but reports are that the in-shore is still going with very nice catches of rooster fish.

Successful Lures: Petrolero (brown with orange and little gray), Chivato (Yellow, orange, with black stripes), Purpura (black with purple). I may be missing some as they tried everything this past week.

Bait Used: Mackerel (which is estrange as the water is very warm) and sardine.

Highlight of the Week: You can go out to La Rivera and stay there the whole day with many tunas right there.
