TUNA TO 60 POUNDS PLUS DORADO TO 45 POUNDS
CAUGHT OFF BY SPORTFISHING BOATS AT CABO PULMO

Oct. 9, 2004, Roy Baldwin, Rancho Leonero, East Cape fishing, Baja Sur, Mexico:

Fishing has moved further outside, but other than that, nearly a carbon copy of last week. Pleasant East Cape fishing weather all week, with cool mornings in the upper 60's and warmer afternoon highs around 90, with variable water temp 83-86deg.

Yellowfin tuna - most fish about 15-20 miles off Cabo Pulmo, with larger fish to 60 lbs way north, about 40 miles out. East Cape tuna taking mostly live sardinas, mackerel, hoochies and cedar plugs, with limits for most boats.

Dorado - mixed in with the tuna off Pulmo, with fish from 15-45lbs taking mostly live bait, with some larger fish taken on marlin lures.

Billfish - mostly sailfish, spread throughout the bay, from 5-15 miles out, taking live mackerel and sardinas.

Wahoo - a number of East Cape wahoo came in this week, located between the lighthouse and Cabo Pulmo, about a mile off the beach. Purple marauders working best.

Inside - no pressure, but those going after roosters were rewarded with some nice fish to 40lbs, cruising off most area beaches, from Leonero to the lighthouse. Slow trolled live sardinas and caballitos working best.
