FIRST-EVER FISH FOR THE NEW EAST CAPE
BOAT SEÑOR DON IS A 50-POUND WAHOO
Oct. 2, 2004, Rod Albright, East Cape fishing trip report, Baja California Sur, Mexico:
Don Giottonini, I, and Don's skipper Javier Cota were bringing Don's brand-new 34-foot Black Watch up to the East Cape from Cabo on its first fishing trip when Don caught a nice 50-pound Wahoo!
It was the first fish landed on "Senor Don" and what a nice fish indeed. We had only been trolling about 15 minutes when the big 'hoo ate a bleeding mackerel lure. The fight only lasted 10 minutes and with the fish boatside I gaffed and subdued it before bring it on board. Guess hoo's coming to dinner? Right!
We caught the fish near the Gordo Bank with other action on small dorado in the area too.
Also on board was Lee Turner, the photographer and my wife Barb Albright as well as first mate Artouro. What a great day we had on a great boat, and hopefully many more great days to come.
We caught that fish on Oct. 2. We also released 3 dorado. All the fish we caught near the inner Gordo Bank.
We did fish again on Sun. Oct 3 just north of the Gordo Bank and we also caught another 50-pound Wahoo and 4 more dorado and a Blue Marlin. This boat is a fish catching machine!
We went north today, toward Cerralvo Island and landed 3 tuna, the largest one around 50 lbs. And 2 nice dorado. We lost 4 sail fish or should I say they got away. Anyway we have caught a lot of fish on Don's new boat, and I think we will get a lot more in the future too.
