HOTEL PUNTA PESCADERO CONDITION REPORT

Nov. 1-8, 2004, Carol Goldman, Hotel Punta Pescadero condition report, Baja California Sur, Mexico Fishing Report:

Punta Pescadero has only one cruiser and one panga. The captain on the cruiser did not seem to be experienced. The captain on the panga tried very hard to get fish. However, both boats had equipment that was old and inadequate. We did manage to catch a couple of dorado on the panga.

The Hotel Punta Pescadero location is beautiful. The rooms are very spacious and clean with air conditioning and TV. It has a great deal of potential! The staff is eager to please and very accommodating. The food was very good. The bartender, Vidal, has been working there for 28 years. He makes a fantastic Bloody Mary. The dining room staff was always cheerful, helpful and made our meals very enjoyable.

The property has been owned by the Bank for 12 years. However, an investment group from Monterrey, Mexico purchased the Hotel Punta Pescadero property two months ago. We were told the investment group is bringing in five more cruisers and, I would assume, adequate fishing equipment. We were also told that there will be some renovation of the property. Once the fishing fleet is increased, adequate equipment is provided, and experienced skippers are navigating the cruisers, we will definitely return.

The guests are mostly couples, some of whom have been returning for years. We found Hotel Punta Pescadero to be low key and very relaxing--a place to reenergize.

Punta Pescadero is located 14 miles (of dirt road) north of Los Barilles. A new road is being built from Los Barriles to La Paz. This will help.
