EAST CAPE FLEET BOATS FISHING INTO NORTH WINDS
AND RETURNING DOWNHILL THIS WEEK
Nov. 19-25, 2004, Axel Valdez, Buena Vista Beach Resort, East Cape fishing, Baja California Sur, Mexico:
Total East Cape fishing boats out: 17. Fishermen: 51. Weather: Low to High 80's. Water Temperature: 77°- 81°. Black Marlin 1. Striped Marlin 5. Sailfish 1. Dorado 60. Tuna 10. Snapper 5. Bonita 2. Skip Jack 2. Sierra 8
East Cape Water Temperature: Our ocean maintained its temperature. We are seeiong more areas where water is below the 80's.
Air Temperature: Very nice winter weather, but East Cape winds continue to make the wind surfers very happy.
East Cape Fishing Spots and Distance: Same as last week as our fleet is mostly going North to come back with the wind. The calm days they have the option of fishing either North or South. Distance average about 25 miles each way.
East Cape Offshore Fishing: Dorado fishing continues to be the most steady species, some tuna as well, but not as many as last week. Some billfish still around, and the first black of the year, a little late to be hanging around.
East Cape Inshore Fishing: It is okay, only okay, as the wind doesn't help much, but the sierra mackerel is in, therefore everything will change as the action will get hot for them.
Successful Lures: Our fleet is using most of the Baja color's, but if you are coming down don't forget to bring your wire leader for sierra, and a lot of hoochies.
Bait Used: Pangueros are still getting sardines, mackerel and caballitos, you need to find the guys, but they are around. No change.
Highlight of the Week: How about the first black marlin of the season. This is the reason why I support my brother's philosophy about our best fishing time, it is when you are out fishing and trying, if you are not out there, it just doesn't matter how good or bad it is.
