FEW BOAT DEPARTURES BUT GOOD FISHING
FOUND ON CALM DAYS AT RANCHO LEONERO

Dec. 11, 2004, Roy Baldwin, Rancho Leonero fishing, East Cape, Baja California Sur, Mexico:

Mild East Cape weather, with cool mornings in the 60's and warm afternoon highs about 80, with partly cloudy, windy conditions early in the week, with calm conditions and lots of sun the last several days. Cooling East Cape water temp 73-75 degrees. Few East Cape fishing departures this week, but good fishing on the calm days.

Striped marlin have moved north, 5-10 miles off Punta Pescadero, taking a mix of live bait and trolled lures.

Dorado are concentrated on the East Cape buoys off Punta Pescadero, averaging 10-15 pounds with some bulls to 30 pounds mixed in, taking mostly live sardinas, mackerel and hoochies.

Lots of sierra are taking live bait, hoochies and chrome off most East Cape beaches.
