LEONERO BOATS CATCH DORADO LIMITS
WHILE FISHING AT PUNTA PESCADERO BUOYS

Feb. 12, 2005, John Ireland, Rancho Leonero, East Cape, Baja fishing report, Mexico:

Mild fishing weather continues at East Cape, with cool mornings in the 60's and afternoon highs to the mid 70's, with partly cloudy skies, 2 days of wind early in the week, rain on Friday, with beautiful sunny conditions returning for the weekend. East Cape water temperatures are holding steady at 68-70 degrees. Limits of dorado (mahi-mahi), a strong striped marlin bite, and the return of yellowfin tuna in numbers marked this week's fishing at East Cape.

Striped Marlin are biting north off Punta Pescadero, with live bait presented to tailing fish working best.

Dorado are concentrated off the buoys at Punta Pescadero, limits for all anglers, with fish to 20 pounds aggressively taking live bait and hoochies.

Schools of yellowfin tuna are under porpoise, 3-5 miles off La Ribera, with fish to 15-40 pounds taking live bait, hoochies and cedar plugs.

Inside, sierra and jacks are biting well, from Rancho Leonero south to Las Baracas, with live bait, hoochies and chrome all producing hookups.
