RANCHO LEONERO CHARTER FISHING BOATS FINDING
EARLY SPRING CONDITIONS AT EAST CAPE

Feb. 27, 2005, John Ireland, Rancho Leonero, East Cape, Baja California Sur, Mexico Fishing:

Mild fishing weather continues at East Cape. It looks like an early spring with cool mornings in the 60's and afternoon highs to the mid 70's, with 2 days of clouds during the week, and beautiful calm sunny conditions returning for the weekend. Warmer water temperatures of 71-72 degrees. A wide open striped marlin bite, limits of dorado, and a strong roosterfish bite inside topped this week's action.

Striped marlin are concentrated about 10 miles straight off La Ribera, taking all bait and lures, a wide open bite. On Saturday 4 boats released 16 stripers.

Dorado (mahi-mahi) are under structure, throughout the bay, with limits for all anglers, with fish to 30 pounds aggressively taking live bait and hoochies.

Inside, roosterfish, sierra and jacks are biting well, from Leonero south to Las Baracas, with live bait, hoochies and chrome all producing hookups.
