April 21-28, 2005, Axel Valdez, Buena Vista Beach Resort, East Cape Fishing, Baja California Sur, Mexico:

Early in the week there was a cold current that came in and dropped the water temperature at East Cape. This is generalizing because there is always an area where the water does get affected. Still with the help of some wind the water did drop a little this past week.
It is almost May and East Cape continues to have some wind, which is very strange. We continue to go out, but the fishing continues to get affected by these winds, making it okay fishing.
Our East Cape fishing fleet is going everywhere they can find warm water, and they have been rewarded by getting more and more sailfish. Distance ranges from 25-35 miles. It is a little farther than last week, but we are going where the fish are.
Marlin fishing at East Cape continues to dominate most of the action, but the sails are making a huge comeback. Dorado are very limited, and tuna didn't make it to the chart. First wahoo of the season this past week, there will be more.
Inshore Fishing at East Cape: It was until late in the week, and also due to the amount of fly fishermen we had this past week, as more people started to fish the inshore, and as you can see in the chart with great results.
Successful Lures: Petrolero is getting hotter as well as black and purpura.
Bait Used: Bait has not been a sure thing, even though our pangueros try hard every night. It is bait "fishing" and there is a reason why is not call "catching".
Highlight of the Week: Even with some wind and the water in the low 70's the sails started coming in. I am sure that it won't be long until we see a blue. But once again, I will would like to meet the person that can anticipate fishing.
