GOOD CATCHES OF SMALL TUNA CAUGHT OVER 40 MILES OUT
May 6, 2005, Gary Leeper, at Martin Verdugo's Beach Resort, East Cape, Baja, Mexico Fishing:
The fishing week started out well for East Cape hotel cruisers, with full loads of small tuna from out 40-plus miles, the occasional dorado, and plenty of marlin. As we end the fishing week at East Cape, we are getting 10-15 mile winds from scattered directions and the tuna have become elusive, but marlin are plentiful, and there are wahoo around early in the day near Cerralvo Island, the 88 spot, and other scattered locations. Very few dorado are being seen at East Cape. Water temperatures in the East Cape sportfishing areas are 76 to 77 degrees. Cooler spots are 74. Air temperatures are in the low 70's to low 90's. |
