WAHOO AT EAST CAPE--There was a nice run of wahoo last week south of Los Frailes, and Greg George, fishing on Danny Hustead's boat Reel Hustle out of Martin Verdugo's Beach Resort, scored on this 60 pounder with a purple-black Marauder. Photo courtesy Gary Leeper.

VERDUGO'S BOAT LANDS A 60-POUND EAST CAPE WAHOO
May 14, 2005, Gary Leeper, at Martin Verdugo's Beach Resort, East Cape, Baja fishing report, Mexico:
Greg George, Marisol Verdugo's husband, caught a 60 pound wahoo off white sands beach south of Los Frailes. Fish was caught on a purple-and-black Marauder, from the boat Reel Hustle owned by Danny Hustead staying at Verdugo's.
East Cape fishing this week here was mixed, with continued good success on marlin in various areas, including off Punta Pescadero, the lighthouse at Punta Arena, and all the way south to the Gordo Banks. Yes, cruisers have been running from here to Gordo.
Tuna is an unknown, with few taking the long trips that were successful in earlier weeks. A few cruisers have been bringing back good catches, but not from in close.
Dorado are still in short supply, but a few nice ones are showing up including one reported in the 60-pound class.
A few blue marlin are also showing up in the catch as well as the stray broadbill swordfish. I still hear sailfish showing up in the catch. Roosters and toro are easy marks from the beach. Wahoo were hot off Pescadero and white sands beach.
