FISHING AT EAST CAPE--Mr. Preston from San Pedro fished out of Buena Vista Beach Resort with Juan "Mickey" Garcia on his super panga, and they hooked a nice dorado, and while they were chumming to get more dorado to bite, they hooked this beautiful 90-pound tuna. Photo courtesy Axel Valdez.

EAST CAPE FISHING TRIPS OUT OF BUENA VISTA BEACH RESORT
INCLUDE A 90-POUND TUNA
May 13-19, 2005, Axel Valdez, Buena Vista Beach Resort, East Cape, Baja Sur, Mexico:
Total boats out 71. Fishermen 213. Weather Low 90's. Water Temperature 75-78. Catch including released fish: Striped Marlin 84. Sailfish 1. Dorado 54. Tuna 19. Wahoo 1. Roosterfish 5. Snapper 10. Jack Crevalle 3. Amberjack 1. Bonita 7. Ladyfish 2. Triggerfish 6. Squid 3. Cabrilla 1. Skip Jack 17.
Water temperature was a picture perfect last weekend, but by Monday everything changed and remained cold for two days. Wednesday and Thursday everything was coming back to normal.
The air temperature is starting to get hot. Still it has been beautiful weather.
Fishing Spots and Distance: With the currents on Monday and Tuesday, our East Cape sportfishing fleet had to go find the nice warm water, and they did, about 35-45 miles south.
Offshore Fishing: Except for Monday and Tuesday, last weekend and the last two days of the week were perfect. They found tuna by El Farito, they caught one up to 95 lbs. There were more dorado, one up to 48 lbs. And one very nice wahoo at 75 lbs. And marlin, well the numbers talk for themselves.
East Cape Inshore Fishing: Amberjack, jack crevalle, triggers, pargos and some roosters as well, consistent.
This is the third week that bait has been mackerel, but it has not been consistent, and this week we had to use little jacks, mullet and whatever we got our hands on. They also found sardines on the last days, but way down.
