DORADO LUCK--Only a handful of dorado have been caught at East Cape in recent weeks, but Gary Spackman's grandson Ludlow landed this 52-pound beauty on the Dusty B II out of Buena Vista Beach Resort. Photo courtesy Axel Valdez.

STRIPED MARLIN LANDINGS ON A NEAR-RECORD PACE
FOR BUENA VISTA BEACH RESORT FISHING BOATS
June 17-23, 2005, Axel Valdez, Buena Vista Beach Resort, East Cape fishing, Baja California Sur, Mexico:
Total boats out 123. Fishermen 349. Weather Temperature High 80's-High 90's. Water Temperature: 79-83. Catch including released fish: Striped Marlin 140. Sailfish 1. Dorado 24. Tuna 97. Roosterfish 9. Shark 1. Snapper 13. Jack Crevalle 15. Amberjack 1. Bonita 4. Ladyfish 1. Triggerfish 10. Cabrilla 10. Skip Jack 7.
Water Temperature: Our water is now in better shape and we haven't had any more cool water come in. And it seems now that this won't change.
Air Temperature: It is getting warmer and we are starting to get to the 90's almost daily and we started feeling more humidity. Still it is very nice as the ocean breeze cools our days.
Fishing Spots and Distance: All over our beautiful bay. We go south in front of La Rivera all the way to Meganos Blancos, to the 88's. Tuna is definitely a long boat ride, but it can be very rewarding.
Offshore Fishing: Stripers, stripers, I think by the way it is going, we are sure to break our yearly striped marlin record. Tuna, there were less this week, but we still managed to catch almost a hundred.
Inshore Fishing: We have a lot of inshore fishing this week, and it was very rewarding as there is a lot of action. I will start my recommendation, a little late this year, do not come to East Cape without your light line outfit, 10-20 lbs test.
