We were well on our way to getting the all important fish-per numbers on the right track when the winds hit out of the southeast. East Cape has been real windy and the water has been real rough since Monday and the fishing has really been affected.
Much of the week saw water temperatures 75 degrees and above. Bait-wise, we've got jurelito and ballyhoo.
The official flagship of the ECS, the "Senorita Bonita" is now available for your chartering pleasure. She's all dolled up and ready to roll.
The Striped Marlin bite fell off by about half but the first half of the reporting week was strong. Anglers are reporting action to the north off Punta Pescadero (6-12 miles; vicinity of the shark buoy stops), as well as to the south off Buena Vista (10-12 miles), Punta Arena (8-10 miles), Cabo Pulmo (6-15 miles), and Los Frailes (5-10 miles). One Blue Marlin was landed to the north off Punta Pescadero (13 miles).
The Dorado bite is still hit and miss with very few Dodo's being landed. The Dorado bite continued on a very consistent dismal pace. Limited action was all spread out between Cerro Verde (10-12 miles), Punta Pescadero (4-6 miles: shark buoy stops), and Isla Cerralvo, straight off Los Barriles (10-12 and 40 miles), as well as to the south off Los Cerritos (6-7 miles), Cabo Pulmo (8-10 miles), and Los Frailes (6-8 miles).
The Yellowfin Tuna bite carried the week once again with an overall catch rate up to about 44 percent. Anglers reported early reporting week fun to the north off Punta Pescadero (28-10 miles; vicinity of the shark buoy stops), straight off Los Barriles (5-8 and 37-40 miles), and to the south off Buena Vista (30-42 miles), Rancho Leonero (32-36 miles), La Ribera (20-23 miles), and Cabo Pulmo (20-25 miles). Most of the fish coming in are in the 10-20 pound class right now.
Rounding out the report were 10 Roosterfish landed inshore at Las Arenas to the north and Surjidero and Rancho Leonero to the south.
