GOOD LOCAL SUMMER BAJA FISHING THIS WEEK
FOR BOATS LAUNCHING AT EAST CAPE
Aug. 27, 2005, Russ Fritz, La Ribera, East Cape fishing, Baja California Sur, Mexico:
We had a very fine East Cape fishing day today.
Cory Pederson of Trinidad Calif., boated and released a nice 120-pound striped marlin, and Scott Williams of Phoenix, Ariz., released a 145-pound striper.
Both fish were taken from my panga Soplado, about 3 miles off Punta Colorado. Earlier in the morning we released 5 barrilete, and Scott landed a 20-pound yellowfin tuna, all taken on live sardines.
The tuna bite was hot, 3 miles off La Ribera, for several hours, after sunrise.
A southeast wind has pushed some colder and green water to the lighthouse at Punta Arena. East Cape fishing water temperatures have dropped to 80 degrees from 86. Light and variable winds made for calm seas and comfortable fishing all day today.
Bob Grant of La Ribera, reported catching 5 dorado, 1 red snapper, and 1 yellowfin at the tuna hole, 3 miles off La Ribera, all on live mackerel.
