FISH SCARCE CLOSE IN FOR BOATS FISHING OUT OF LOS BARRILES
Sept. 30, 2005, Chuck Meredith, Los Barriles, East Cape fishing report, Baja Sur, Mexico:
This last week, East Cape fishing within 20 miles in any direction from Los Barriles has been on a barren, sterile sea. A hotel cruiser will take you to the south 50 miles one-way to the Iman banks and Gordo banks. There, the fish have been plentiful. The other way is to go northeast out 45 miles one-way to the 88 degree water where there are sailfish. Lots of them. But there is nothing at medium or close distance. The Hurricane Otis has made all the fleets pull all the boats and put them onshore. Huge swells have appeared, and rain bands and squalls are now here. |
