LADYFISH AND MIXED JACKS CAUGHT ON BAJA FISHING BEACHES AT PUNTA ARENA

I have been down here at East Cape fishing now for a week and have fished the last 3 mornings in a row from the beach at the Punta Arena light.

Fishing yesterday, I kept count and tallied 32 ladyfish, 2 small roosters, 3 small jacks, a grunt and a lookdown in an hour-and-a-half right at the crack of dawn.

There was no wind, water temps in the low 80's.

A friend fishing the day before yesterday hooked a grande rooster from the beach right in front of Hotel Punta Colorada and brought it to leader in an hour and 15 minutes. He was using live bait and according to his measurements it weighed 47 pounds, nice one.

All of our fish were caught on Dungeness Stingers in the chrome finish.

I've heard rumors of sierra showing up but ya can't prove it by me. The East Cape sportfishing fleet out of Punta Colorada are getting some small dodos and sails. A 350-pound blue was boated yesterday. Tons of grande squid around.
