PLENTY OF DORADO CAUGHT BY EAST CAPE CHARTER FISHING BOATS
Nov. 18-24, 2005, Chris Moyers, East Cape Smoke House, East Cape Fishing, Mexico:
East Cape charter fishing fleets, including Hotels Palmas de Cortez, Playa del Sol, Rancho Leonero, Buena Vista, and Rancho Buena Vista: Charters 82; Anglers 233; Total Fish 324; Fish/Charter 3.95; Fish/Angler 1.39. Catch including released fish: Blue Marlin 6; Striped Marlin 40; Sailfish 38; Dorado 161; Sierra 9. Water Temperature 73-81; Air Temperature 87-62.
The Dorado bite in the East Cape fishing area pretty much went off this past week. Most dodo coming in are real nice in size in the 30-40 pound class. East Cape's billfish bite was up as well.
Unfortunately, the Yellowfin Tuna bite was nonexistent.
Last week, East Cape saw expected periodic North winds for part of the week. As a result of the winds, most charters ventured to the north with the southern most locale being La Ribera, so anglers were not venturing too far south.
Air temperatures ranged between 62-87 degrees. Terrafin informed us of a water temperature range of 73-81 degrees. Bait-wise, it looks like the great squid run of 2005 is over but we've got plenty of mackerel.
Striped Marlin once again led off the bite at East Cape, with anglers reporting Striper action to the north off Punta Pescadero, 15-18 miles, vicinity of the shark buoy stops, straight off Los Barriles, 13-15 miles, as well as to the south off La Ribera, 3-5 miles.
Sailfish were very close behind with anglers reporting action to the north off Punta Pescadero, as well as to the south off La Ribera.
Blue Marlin brought up the rear with several landings reported to the north off Punta Pescadero and straight off Los Barriles, 10-12 miles.
The Dorado bite pretty much went off to the north off Punta Pescadero, straight off Los Barriles, 25-30 miles, as well as to the south off Rancho Leonero.
