SOME ROUGH WATER DURING THE WEEK FOR ENSENADA FISHING BOATS
Jan. 22, 2005, Ivan Villarino, Vonny's Fleet, Punta Banda, Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico Fishing:
On Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, we couldn't go out fishing at Ensenada due to high surf and rough water. Friday was our first fishing day, and the Vonny I went out. They had a nice day of fishing, and caught lingcod, bass and rockcod, with Earl Bigelow from Santee and Steve Lewis from San Diego. There were areas of fog at Ensenada in the morning, later only mist. The air temperature was 56-67 degrees. The Ensenada fishing area water temperature was 59 degrees, with ocean swells of 3-4 feet and light winds.
On Saturday, Joel Spydell and John T. Coldwell went fishing on the Vonny I, and Gary and Marhgie Orwig went fishing on the Vonny VIII. They are from San Diego. Ensenada water was still kind of rough, and the surf was still a little high, but everybody went out fishing.
Ensenada bottom fishing was slow for both boats, but one yellowtail per boat was caught. On the way back Beto saw some birds in the water and seagulls diving, and he thought it was more "jureles" so of he went over to find out. There was a bird in the water, a big bird, and it was the finishing touch at Vonny's Fleet, a rescued eagle of sorts. Later in the day, the eagle flew away saying "thank you" to Beto for the rescue. Another day in our Ensenada Paradise. There were areas of fog in the morning, and later mist. Ensenada air temperature was 53-70 degrees, and the water temperature in our Ensenada fishing area was 59 degrees, with ocean swells of 3-4 feet and light winds.
