ENSENADA FISHING BOAT MELODY LANDS 4 ALBACORE AT 450 SPOT
April 8, 2005, Steve Ross, Bad Dog, Marina Coral, Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico Fishing:
It was reported to me that on Wednesday, April 6, "Melody" a 50-foot Mikelson, fishing out of Ensenada's Marina Coral, with owners Judy and Mel Ostberg on board, got one jig strike all day while fishing offshore inside of the 450 spot, 35 miles southwest from Ensenada. They caught one albacore on a jig and 3 on live bait drop backs, totaling 4 albacore for the one stop. Sea conditions were very rough in the Ensenada fishing area, and they found it impossible to fish rock cod on the Banda Bank because of the large swells.
Mike's Ensenada Live Bait provided the anchovies.
On Wednesday evening, my wife Gail, was presented a Shimano Trinidad 50 at the San Diego Angler's monthly meeting as a follow up to their Awards Banquet Saturday night April 2 at the Shelter Point Hotel here in San Diego. Gail won their "All Around Angler of the Year 2004" annual tournament/women's division.
Men's Division was won by Eddie Howerton. Gail also won plaques for numerous "largest species of the year." I won a plaque for "First Albacore of the Year 2004." I will win another plaque next year for "First Albacore of the Year 2005."
A very large building is being constructed in Ensenada. When I asked a local, "What's that?" he replied, "That is being built...for putas." Well, I guess, the more things change, the more they are the same. On the south side of town...a well known bar of ill repute...found few customers. After reducing their cover charge, a few gringos came up to me on my boat and said they went there only to find three girls in this very large...building.
