SERGIO'S SPORTFISHING TRIP ON THE ENSENADA BOAT CLIPPER II
Sept. 3, 2005, Donald Rubi, Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico:
I just got back from Ensenada and spent a day fishing aboard the Clipper II out of Sergio's Sportfishing. On the full day boat we made a run out to Islas Todos Santos and found all of the fishing action on the surface.
On the way out there, we came across multiple barracuda feeding frenzies with most of the 10 anglers bagging about 5 a piece on average.
Once we were fishing out at the islands, I again caught the lone yellowtail trolling a size 14 yellow/green Rapala. After bringing in that 15 to 18 pounder, I immediately hooked into another about the same size if not bigger only to lose it when it broke me off.
On the way back in to Ensenada, we set up on a sandbass honey hole and everybody was bringing sandies over the rail. And not a shorty in the bunch. Most were about 5 to 7 pounds.
Our bait consisted of sardines and mackerel, with irons working just as well. All in all, a fairly good fishing day.
