ENSENADA FISHING ABOARD THE BOAT MATADOR WITH CAPT. DAVID SILVA
Oct. 9, 2005, Emerald Argonza, Matador Sportfishing, Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico:
The Matador was skippered by David Silva yesterday October 8th with only two anglers and headed south of Ensenada to the San Jose area for bottom fishing.
There were a lot of good markers on the fish finder during the morning hours, but fish were reluctant to bite due to the presence of tons of bait in the area.
The bite did not start until about noon on one of the rocks at San Jose and it put the anglers on to 38 good sized rockcod.
All the fish were caught using sardine and anchovy baits a dropper loops with 3 hooks.
Ensenada fishing weather was nice and calm with the water temperature at 63 degrees.
There were other Ensenada fishing reports of limits of yellowtail and lots of yellowfin tuna being caught by some boats that fished the lower 500 spot and this was confirmed at the Ensenada landing with lots of anglers coming home with sacks full of pelagic fillets.
