BOTTOM FISH LIMITS FOR VONNY'S FLEET
Jan. 1-7, 2005, Ivan Villarino, Vonny's Fleet, Punta Banda, Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico:
Our first charter of the 2005 Ensenada fishing season was on Thursday. Jay Johnson went out fishing at Punta Banda with Capt. Beto, they managed to get limits of bottom fish, chuckle heads and reds.
On Saturday all the boats went out, and at about 10 a.m., Beto called in and reported yellowtail, with all boats hooked up.
Jay Johnson was with Capt. Beto on the Vonny-I and they caught 6 yellowtails from 20 to 32 pounds.
Rick McEven of Lake Forest Ca. and Dora Quiñonez from Tijuana went out on the Vonny-II with Capt. Hector Zamora and they caught 4 yellowtails of 20 to 25 pounds and bottom fish.
And Gary Orwiq and Mark Thomas from San Diego caught two yellowtails, 20 to 25 pounds, and bottom fish on Vonny-III with Capt. Cruz Zamora.
What a start for the year!
On Saturday, Ensenada had scattered clouds, air temperature 53-64 degrees, calm winds, swells 4 feet, and the water temperature was 59 degrees.
