QUALITY YELLOWTAIL FOR PUNTA BANDA SPORTFISHING PANGAS

Feb. 10, 2007, Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico, Vonny's Fleet, Ivan Villarino:

This week the fishing for our pangas was very good for Ensenada home guard yellowtail.

Starting on Sunday, Armando Vazquez, Juan Pablo Bojorquez and Gonzalo Ortega from Tijuana took a ride on the charter panga Vonny-I with Capt. Beto Zamora.

It was a nice day for fishing at Ensenada weather-wise, calm, no wind, and sunny as only in Baja.

Capt. Beto right away stopped when he saw the fish finning in the water. Old eagle eyes was tossing aluminum jigs, hooking the first fish of the day, a yellowtail of 25 pounds.

The rest of the fishing day was for Mexican sportfishing limits of bottom fish, lings, reds, etc.

On Monday, Ken Rangel and Ray Angel from Santa Barbara went out fishing on our panga Vonny-III with Capt. Hector.

It was another nice Ensenada day.

They managed 2 nice yellowtail and bottom fish.

The Vonny-I, with Capt. Beto again, took out good ole Jay. They managed 2 yellowtail of 25, 27 pounds, and one 15 pound bonito. It was "smoking time" for our Vonny's Fleet fish smoker.

The rest of the week here at Ensenada on the northern coast of Baja was good too.

On Tuesday, "Calico" Brian Foley went fishing on the Vonny-I with Capt. Beto but he did not want to fish "yellows."

So Capt. Hector on the Vonny-III had to do the honors, landing 4 yellowtail for anglers Vladimir Valdez, Gabriel Suarez and Paul Gallardo all from San Diego, California. These fish went 25, 27, 30, and 31 pounds. Bravo!

Our Baja fishing area around the tip of Ensenada's Punta Banda point had clear, sunny weather this week, 46 to 80 degrees, calm winds, ocean swells of 2-3 feet, and water temperature 58 degrees.
