LOTS OF YELLOWFIN TUNA PRESENT IN LOCAL FISHING WATERS
Dec. 16, 2005, Eric Weissman, Explore Fly Fishing, San Augustinillo, Huatulco, Mexico Fishing Report:
The water temperature at San Agustinillo is 76.1 degrees, clarity good, colour green-blue, fish species present, Dorado, Sailfish, Wahoo, lots of yellowfin tuna, black skipjack, skipjack tuna, and jacks.
Our guests have been having a good time fishing. Huge schools of tunny and jacks, including rainbow runners and yellowtail have been around but hard to hook. But they are being hooked. There are lots of Yellowfin tuna around, from 8 pounds to 200 pounds, most in the 14 pound range.
Sailfish are back in good numbers, taking up normal territorial patterns just near shore, and several wahoo and marlin are around.
The sailfish and tuna are about 3 drives of a 3 wood off the beach! I landed a dozen yellowfin tuna this morning in an hour while fishing about a mile from here. The sailfish yesterday were jumping in view of the beach.
