FULL MOON DOESN'T STOP RED-HOT SAILFISH CATCHES

Feb. 25, 2005, Larry Edwards, Cortez Yacht Charters, Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, Mexico Fishing Report:

Even the oncoming full moon didn't slow down the red-hot sailfish action in the Ixtapa Zihuatanejo vacation area last week.

Angler Mr. Sakalaskas, fishing a long day with Captain Adolfo, "Dos Hermanos I", landed 9 sailfish for 1 fishing day.

Captain Adolfo also led Mr. Timbando to 6 sailfish for 2 offshore days and 4 sailfish for Mr. Bateman for a single offshore day.

Captain Cheva, "Dos Hermanos II" also took Mr. Timbando offshore and landed 3 sailfish for one day.

European angler, Mr. Macrez, fishing aboard the Zihuatanejo super panga, "Janeth", landed 13 sailfish, 3 sharks, 1 dorado and 3 Spanish mackerel for 3 fishing days.

Captain Jose Vargas, "La Bamba", landed 6 sailfish for 2 days for angler Mr. Isenmann.

New Jersey angler, Mr. Harry Field, landed 4 Zihuatanejo sailfish on his first day offshore with Captain Luis on the "Marea Azul".

Also from New Jersey, Mr. Ron Reinhardt, fishing aboard the "Vamonos III, with Captain Chiro, landed 4 sailfish on his first offshore day.

Angler Larry Houser, Houston, TX, landed 3 sailfish for one offshore day with Captain Alex, aboard the "Gran Jefe", while Branson, MO angler, Thomas Games landed 2 sailfish and 3 yellowfin tuna for a single day.

Captain Alex finished the week by taking Green Bay angler, Rick Kett, to 8 sailfish, 3 dorado (mahi-mahi), 16 yellowftail jacks and 2 roosterfish for 4 Ixtapa Zihuatanejo fishing days.

Ixtapa Zihuatanejo fishing weather was mostly sunny and warm, temps from 70 nights to 92 daytime highs. Sea conditions were calm, with water temperatures from 82 degrees inshore to 84 degrees offshore

The bait supply remained excellent, even with the full moon conditions.
