SPORTFISHING ACTION PICKS UP AFTER FULL MOON

June 3, 2005, Stan Lushinsky, Ixtapa Sportfishing Charters, Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, Mexico Fishing Report:

With the passing of the full moon period and the calming of the seas the action picked up dramatically in the Ixtapa Zihuatanejo vacation area last week.

Offshore, the Sailfish bite turned on but there was still some reports of nice Marlin, Dorado and Tuna.

Inshore, Yellowtail Jacks led the way but Ixtapa Zihuatanejo sportfishing captains reported seeing more and more Roosterfish each day.

Captain Arturo Land of the Ixtapa Zihuatanejo charter fishing boat Janeth posted 1 Sailfish for Chico angler Fred Aigner on his final day of fishing along with 3 SAILFISH for another client in Two days of fishing.

Captain Temo on the Secuestro reported 7 Sailfish in two days for Chicago angler Mr. Duea. Captain Temo also posted 6 SAILFISH in 1 day for Mississippi Angler Woody Brodtmann. Mr. Brodtmann & Captain Temo also gave the Roosterfish a try but could not get any to strike, landing a handful of Yellowtail Jacks

Michigan angler Dr. Uggen fishing aboard the Dos Hermanos 2 with Captain Cheva, landed 3 SAILFISH On his last day of fishing and European angler Mr. Draboul fishing two days with Captain Cheva Posted 4 SAILFISH and a 300 Lb BLUE MARLIN.

Returning Angler Mark Peterssen fishing with Ixtapa Zihuatanejo Captain Alex aboard the Grande Jefe landed 2 nice Roosterfish to 40 Lbs. on his last day of fishing. Captain Alex fishing offshore with European Angler Mr. Maletas landed 1 BLUE MALRIN, 280 Lbs, along with 6 SAILFISH. Mr. Maletas and Captain Alex fished 1 day inshore Landing 4 YELLOWTAIL JACKS 1 (60 LB ) Roosterfish and lost another big Roosterfish. Captain Alex finished the week by posting a FIRST PLACE FINISH for the best decorated boat in the Annual Ixtapa Zihuatanejo NAVY DAY CELEBRATION.

Mr. Maletas finished the month of May by posting an 8 SAILFISH day while fishing aboard the super panga Michelle.

Captain Adolofo Espinosa fishing 4 Days with returning French Angler Michelle Simon had wide open Yellowtail jack action landing 49 YELLOWTAIL JACKS, 35 BONITOS, 1 DORADO and 1 Spanish Mackerel. Captain Adolfo reported the Jacks were so numerous that the ROOSTERFISH could not beat them to the popper.

Texas Angler, Keith Perkins fishing aboard the VAMONOS 3 with Ixtapa Zihuatanejo Captain Chiro posted 4 SAILFISH in one day offshore and Captain Chiro also landed 4 SAILFISH, 2 DORADO and 1 BIG PARGO in two days for another client.

Captain Jose Vargas on the La Bamba had a 3 SAILFISH day for a local client. Both the Don Gordo and the Burbuja reported Landing Blue Marlin this week.

Captain Francisco on the MARFEL posted the Winning SAILFISH in the Local CALENTONIA Tournament last week, a fish that scaled in at 42 Kilos. The Tournament was followed by a day of activities and festivities in the true Mexican Flavor.

Ixtapa Zihuatanejo weather was sunny, with little wind and highs in the 90’s. Sea conditions were calm, and the bait supply was good.
