FISHING AREA RECEIVES FIRST RAINS OF THE SEASON

June 24, 2005, Stan Lushinsky, Ixtapa Sportfishing Charters, Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, Mexico Fishing Report:

A bit of less than perfect weather coupled with the arrival of the full moon made for some inconsistent fishing last week in Ixtapa Zihuatanejo.

Returning anglers with the Ed Ilhareguy group, fishing two days, landed 1 Striped Marlin, 3 sailfish, losing two other marlin and 1 big Dorado, aboard the Secuestro; 1 sailfish and lost 1 Sailfish aboard the Grande Jefe; 3 sailfish and lost 1 Marlin aboard the Dos Hermanos 2; and 5 sailfish aboard the Janeth. The group also fished 1 day aboard the Dos Hermanos 1, landing 4 sailfish.

European angler Mr. Randoing fishing aboard the Dos Hermanos 2, landed 3 sailfish in two days of fishing.

Also from Europe, Mr. Emonet fishing two inshore days aboard the Dos Hermanos 1 landed 3 roosterfish, 9 yellowtail jacks, 2 needlefish, 4 bonitos and were plagued from above hooking two Pelicans and 1 frigate bird.

Captain Chiro on the Vamonos 3 reported 1 Sailfish for angler Mr. Immel and 2 Sailfish for returning angler Mr Lundberg.

Our Texas Angler's Mr Blackstone's group fishing two days aboard the La Bamba and Marlin Azul, landed 2 sailfish and 1 striped marlin.

Captain Jose on the La Bamba reported a 3 Sailfish day for angler Greg Freeman.

First time visitor to Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, on leave from Iraq, Mr Alexander Frode caught his first Pacific sailfish while fishing aboard the Grande Jefe. Joining Mr Frode was returning angler Ed Williams who also landed a Sailfish on their first day offshore.

The area received it's first rain of the season and with the rain came a bit of wind and strong tides which made the sea conditions rough. Adding to the mix was a scarcity of live bait.
