ROUGH SEAS AND PORT CLOSURE HAMPER FISHING BOATS
Sept. 30, 2005, Stan Lushinsky, Ixtapa Sportfishing Charters, Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, Mexico Fishing Report:
After a week of extremely nice September weather the Ixtapa Zihuatanejo fishing area was hit with high winds and heavy rains. The port was closed 4 out of 7 days and there were small craft advisories for the other 3 days.
Captain Luis on the Gran Jefe reported some good Roosterfish action just before the weather turned for the worse. But Captain Adolofo's only venture out this week found only 1 small Roosterfish and a handful of Bonitos and Needlefish. The inshore fishing at Ixtapa Zihuatanejo water was muddied by the heavy rains and the blue water was pushed far offshore.
Final preparations are being made for this year's Ixtapa Zihuatanejo Total Tag & Release tournament that will be held November 6-9. There are several good sportfishing boats and crews available and interested anglers are encouraged to contact our office as soon as possible. The tournament web site is ixtapasportfishing.com. This year's event is once again a qualifying event for the ROLEX/IGFA Tournament of Champions that will be held in Cabo San Lucas next year. The beautiful Dorado Pacifico hotel will be the host property for this year's event. Extremely attractive rates have been offered for this year's participating anglers.
