WIDE-OPEN SAILFISH FOR MOST CHARTER FISHING BOATS
Dec. 9, 2005, Larry Edwards, Cortez Yacht Charters, Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, Mexico Fishing Report:
Ixtapa Zihuatanejo anglers, Steve, Leslie and David Walrath, fished 4 days aboard the "Vamonos I", and landed 18 sailfish and 1 dorado.
Harrell Minzenmayer, landed 14 sailfish for two fishing days aboard the "Gran Jefe" and 11 sailfish for 2 days aboard the "Dos Hermanos I".
French angler, Mr. Tarpin, fishing aboard the "Grand Jefe", landed 7 sailfish for two days while Mr. Guardia, also from Europe, landed 4 sailfish for 1 day with Captain Luis and 4 sailfish in one day with Capt. Cheva on the "Dos Hermanos II".
Sharon Ratlie, fishing out of Ixtapa Zihuatanejo with Captain Jose on the "La Bamba", released an estimated 500 pound blue marlin after a long battle on 30 pound test. Joining Sharon on their 2nd day offshore was angler Dee Bulkley who landed a 229 pound blue marlin.
Captain Arturo on the "Janeth", raised 27 sailfish for 5 Ixtapa Zihuatanejo fishing days, landing two on the fly.
Captain Temo on the "Secuestro" fishing with returning anglers, Larry and Legail Chandler, raised 7 sailfish for 1 fishing day, hooking 3 and landing 1.
Inshore fishing action at Ixtapa Zihuatanejo has turned almost exclusively to big yellowtail jacks or jack crevalle, as the roosterfish bite continues to be a mystery.
Vernon Tull, fishing aboard the "Dos Hermanos II", landed 18 yellowtail jacks and 7 bonitos for two fishing days. Angler Tami Weisbboro fished one day with Captain Arturo on "Janeth", landing 16 yellowtail jacks.
Ixtapa Zihuatanejo weather was sunny and warm, in the low 90's, with calm to gentle breezes, sea temperatures from 82 inshore to 85 offshore at 15 miles. Plenty of good bait.
