OFFSHORE FISHING BOATS FINDING WIDE-OPEN SAILFISH ACTION

Jan. 5-11, 2006, Stan Lushinsky, Ixtapa Sportfishing Charters, Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, Mexico Sportfishing Report:

Red hot offshore fishing continues at Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, led by some wide open sailfish action. The blue water is within a mile of the beach and the action last week was by far the most consistent of the season. The inshore fishery has largely not received much fishing pressure because of the red-hot offshore bite. Ixtapa ZIhuatanejo weather was sunny, with beautiful days and calm winds.

Captain Adolofo Espinosa on the Dos Hermanos fishing 6 days, landed 23 sailfish, 1 dorado, 4 wahoo, 1 pompano and 2 roosterfish.

Captain Adolofo took Angler Tod Fazekas to the Puerto Vicente Guerrero area for 1 day of inshore fishing which saw 2 Big roosterfish to 70 pounds and lost two others. Fazekas also posted 1 blue marlin, 2 dorado as well as nonstop light tackle fly action on big schools of Bonitos.

Captain Arturo on the Janeth reported landing 5 sailfish, 35 yellowtail jacks and 1 amberjacks for Mr Dawson who fished 3 days. Captain Arturo also reported 1 sailfish for fly angler Larry Cowles of the Silver Bow Fly Shop.

Captain Candelario on the Leydy reported 5 sailfish for Mr Theunis in two days, and 2 sailfish, 2 yellowfin tuna, 5 Spanish mackerels, 11 yellowtail jacks and 1 roosterfish in 5 days with angler Mr Hollmann.

Captain Cheva posted a 3 sailfish day for angler Lee Southhall.

Captain Chiro aboard the Bloody Hook posted a 4 sailfish day and an 8 sailfish day. Captain Chiro posted a 4 sailfish, 1 dorado day for Tracy Stoick and a 2 sailfish day for Jim and Jim Clancy Jr.

Captain Efraine reported a 6 sailfish day for angler Mr Jim Paulk.

Captain Luis Salas on the Marea Azul posted a 4 sailfish, 1 dorado day for angler Mr Dittbrender.

Joe Calandra fishing aboard the La Bamba with Captain Jose landed 5 sailfish and 1 dorado on his first day offshore. Captain Jose also reported a 2 sailfish, 1 dorado day for angler Mr Smith.

Mike Visocki, fishing aboard the Ixtapa Zihuatanejo charter boat Dos Hermanos II, landed 35 sailfish in 6 days.

The Ixtapa ZIhuatanejo super panga Angler reported landing 9 sailfish, loosing 11 others as well as an estimate 250 lb Blue Marlin in 3 days of fishing.
