GOOD MIXED SPECIES ACTION OFFSHORE AND INSHORE
Aug. 11, Larry Edwards, Cortez Yacht Charters, Ixtapa fishing report:
Abel Cortez, owner of the Ixtapa charter sportfisher, "Gran Jefe," reports blue water is at the 8-10 mils mark, although a marlin was taken at just 3 miles outside Zihuatanejo bay.
Both inshore and offshore sportfishing action remains good throughout the Ixtapa fishing area.
The "Gran Jefe", reporting for 3 days of morning fishing and 2 days of afternoon fishing, reflected 3 big wahoo, 3 sailfish, 4 yellowfin tuna, 3 dorado, 40 bonito, 2 bigeye jacks and 1 needlefish.
The charter boat "La Bamba", reporting for 3 fishing days, reflected 3 sailfish, 1 dorado, 2 yellowfin tuna, 15 jack crevalle and 15 bonito.
The "Don Gordo", reporting for 1 day, had 1 striper and 1 dorado.
The "Vamonos II", also fishing 1 day, had 1 sailfish and lost another.
The super panga, "Dos Hermanos 1" reported for 5 days and reflected 11 roosterfish, 18 jack crevalle, 36 bonito, 9 needlefish and 40 red snapper.
The super panga "Dos Hermanos II", reporting for 4 days, reflected 9 sailfish, 1 dorado, 11 roosterfish, 14 jack crevalle and 7 needlefish.
The "Lady", reporting for a single day returned with 3 big dorados.
Ixtapa Zihuatanejo fishing area weather was mostly cloudy and humid, with some early morning rains, and air temperatures to 90 degree daytime highs. Zihuatanejo fishing area seas were mostly favorable with a couple of poor days early in the week. Billfish were caught mostly on rigged trolling baits, along with a fair number of the dorado. Tuna were caught on the feathers and roosterfish on pencil poppers and live bait.
