BLUE MARLIN CAUGHT DAILY BY CHARTER SPORTFISHING BOAT BLACK MAGIC
Aug. 28, 2004, Artie Davis, Black Magic Sportfishing, La Paz, Mexico Fishing Report:
Fished all week, and La Paz story is marlin marlin marlin. We have gotten a few dorado everyday as well, but there is definitely a lack of volume of those. We have gotten blue marlin everyday ranging from 125 pounds up too 350 everywhere from el bajo to the back side of cerralvo. a few of my clients showed a hesitance when i say there are marlin around, but without a fighting chair and doing it all ??STAND UP STYLE?? they were all beyond happy. With the tuna biting on the Las Arenas side i have been looking for them up this way too, but havent seen any, but we are waitng.
La Paz fishing water temps have been a factor...I have been trying to stay within the 84 to 86 degree range which is mainly closer inshore...outside cerralvo and outside el bajo the water jumps up to nearly 90 degrees and the signs of life certainly diminish...most of our fish have been near the islands of espiritu santo and inside the cerralvo channel...a few scattered La Paz dorado in tight to the islands and near la reina, but no floating debris or any large schools seen.
We are having our chances at multiple billfish days...hooking about 2 to 5 a day...mainly all blue marlin...we did hook a sailfish yesterday, but it got away...La Paz fishing weather has overall been nice...a stiff easterly breeze in the afternoon, however it isnt preventing us from anything.
