FINGERS OF WARM FISHING WATER STILL AROUND

Dec. 31, 2004, Jonathan Roldan, Tailhunter International, La Paz, Mexico Fishing Report:

We're having a typical La Paz December, beautiful weather interrupted at times by wind. It all depends on where you fish because things change daily. However, despite winter, we had a rather good start at the beginning of the week. It seems there's still some warm fingers of water around La Paz because we actually got a few dorado and wahoo from our Las Arenas pangas. Nothing spectacular, but for December fishing that's a bonus! Add that to sierra, cabrilla and snapper and you get a real nice mix.

Both of our fleets are fishing the La Paz and Las Arenas sides, we're well into red snapper and the smaller pargo as well as good bites on tasty sierra and more cabrilla are showing as well. No yellowtail to speak of or amberjack, but some of the commercial guys have taken them so hopefully, it's building. La Paz fishing weather is generally really nice most day. It's definitely nice to be in town for the most part. On the water, it can be breezy one day then flat calm and sunny the next. That's winter fishing in La Paz!
