FISHING TRIP WITH TORTUGA SPORTFISHING
May 16, 2005, Carlos Touche, Las Arenas, La Paz, Mexico Fishing Trip Report:
Larry Powers, Jack Martin and his son Rob, and I were in La Paz last week and had excellent fishing with Tortuga Sportfishing. As always, Gerhardo Hernandez of Tortuga arranged our boats, guides, and housing. All was excellent. Larry and I, in one boat, caught many fish, pargo and cabrilla mostly. They were not large.
The second day, we caught many fish in the morning and stopped by the lighthouse for roosterfish. The water was boiling with activity and we caught two very large ones. Mine was the largest I've ever caught. Gerardo offers excellent facilities and fishing. There is lots of sardina bait.
We fished May 10-11, 2005, and we stayed at the Hacienda Cortez, or the old Posada. I would guess the water temperature was 71-75 degrees. We fished with Rigo and Jorge. Our guide, Rigo, was extremely careful in hoisting the fish for pictures. No gaff was used. We wanted to assure that the fish would not be hurt. They were released.
