BAJA PIRATES FLEET SPORTFISHING REPORT
July 22, 2005, Leonard Phillips, Baja Pirates Fleet, La Paz, Mexico Fishing Report:
This week has been Striped Marlin week in the La Paz sportfishing area. we have sent out 8 or more fishing boats each day and have been in a Marlin fest. Out of 30 anglers, we caught and released 45 Marlin this week. The largest was caught by Robert Reynolds of Bakersfield.
The Striper was estimated to be 100 plus kilos. Bob caught the fish on a new 23-foot walk-around in the slot between Espirito Santo and Ceralvo Islands. The charter fishing boat was captained by Francisco Aguilar. Many of our La Paz anglers were catching their first ever Marlin.
Kaleen Gilbert of Covina said this was the high point in her fishing career. All of the anglers who released their fish received Baja Pirates hats and shirts. Las Arenas fishing has been steady this week with an estimated 200 lb. Mako winning the big fish of the week.
Dorado fishing has also been steady in the Las Arenas area.
