PORT CAPTAIN CLOSES PORT FOR LOCAL FISHING BOATS
Oct. 2, 2005, Jonathan Roldan, Tailhunter International, La Paz, Mexico Fishing Report:
The La Paz fishing area got an eeenie bit of rain from Hurricane Otis. The Port Captain closed us down yesterday and I had to cancel boats as did everyone else. But we put out the boats today because it is fishable even though the port captain wanted to close things down again.
Fishing at La Paz was pretty darned good until Otis the tropical storm/ hurricane came for a visit. The tuna continued to bite along with the big squid just off the Las Arenas lighthouse. Roosterfish and some nice pargo continued to round out the catches. Even when it started getting cloudy we continued to catch fish with the La Paz sportfishing boats continuing to catch dorado and marlin in the usual spots and everyone quite happy.
On Saturday the port captain shut everything down even though there was only some wind, no rain and flat seas, as a precaution. We'll just have to see what La Paz fishing looks like after Otis moves on.
