FISHING ACTION VARIABLE FOR LAS ARENAS SIDE PANGAS
Nov. 5, 2005, Dos Hernandez, Tortuga Sportfishing, Las Arenas, La Paz, Mexico Fishing Report:
After several days of good fishing for everybody who came to fish with us at Las Arenas, we have had some days of variable action this week. Our pangas fishing at Las Cruces had been catching dorado of good size, but this week the fishing became variable, with some days catching just a few fish, and other days with plenty of dorado, tuna, pargo, amberjack, marlin, and sailfish.
Fishing on Saturday and today, the action improved quite a bit, and we caught the most of the pangas on dorado, pargo, and marlin. On Saturday, our friend Bill fished with Capt. Rigo Lucero, and he caught two wahoo of 25 and 40 pounds in the area south of Isla Cerralvo.
Most anglers caught dorado, marlin and sailfish.
You can see a big quantity of Humboldt squid, scattered around 2 miles off Ensenada de los Muertos, and we're using these for bait to catch most of the fish species.
We are also catching sardina baits around Punta Perico, not in big numbers, but enough for good days of fishing.
La Paz fishing area weather has calm, sunny days right now.
