SLOW OFFSHORE ACTION IN ALL DIRECTIONS FOR LAS ARENAS PANGAS
Aug. 12, 2006, Gerardo Hernandez, Tortuga Sportfishing, La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico:
This fishing week on the Las Arenas side of La Paz we had more cloudy days than hot days, with temperatures below 90 degrees. However, the fishing water has stayed at about 88 degrees.
In our main fishing areas to the south, around Boca del Alamo, we didn't have much luck this week. The famous 88 bank outside Isla Cerralvo was also fished by our boats, but without success this week.
To the north of Isla Cerralvo, also we looked for good fishing in those areas where we found it in recent days past, especially for dorado, but we didn't find them, although we did catch some dorado of 20 to 25 pounds.
Although we have caught a good number of marlin, most of them are released. We kept only 2 marlin that were hooked inside the stomach.
The best fishing these days in our La Paz area is for pargo and cabrilla around Los Piles on Isla Cerralvo.
We have enough bait around various parts of Isla Cerralvo, near Bahia Turquesa.
