LAS ARENAS SIDE PANGA FISHING WITH TORTUGA SPORTFISHING
Jan. 6, 2007, Gerardo Hernandez, Tortuga Sportfishing, Las Arenas, La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico:
For the beginning of the new year, the La Paz fishing area had very cool weather in the 60s and 70s this week.
Nevertheless, we were lucky to have very good fishing. We had sunny days without much wind for the whole week.
At the beginning of the week, Humboldt giant squid appeared all around the area of Ensenada de los Muertos, and up to the area around the Punta Arena de la Ventana lighthouse south of La Paz, and they were present in big numbers.
During these days, we are using these squid as bait for fishing on the bottom for pargos and cabrillas.
We are also finding sardina for bait around Los Piles at Isla Cerralvo, and these sardinas are in sufficient numbers to fish for dorado and sierra, which we are finding daily.
The anglers who have been fishing at La Paz with Tortuga Sportfishing have been having success with pargos, cabrilla, sierra, and some dorado.
