GOOD MIXED SPECIES CATCHES FOR PANGAS FISHING AT LAS ARENAS

Feb. 10, 2007, La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico, Las Arenas side fishing report, Tortuga Sportfishing, Gerardo Hernandez:

This week, our fishing area at Las Arenas had wind from the beginning, but the end of the week was calm with a pleasing warmth in the 80s during the days, and in the 70s in the mornings.

These days of sun are the norm for our local fishing area of Baja California.

The fishing this week for our pangas had a very good variety of fish caught.

Dorado were appearing at Punta Perico in the 15 to 25-pound range. We were also visited by marlin offshore of this area.

In the Baja offshore fishing area north of Isla Cerralvo, yellowfin tuna were present, and the fishing for them was very good when the wind permitted us to go out that far.

Inshore, we also had yellowtail, pargo liso, and also barred pargo, or pargo mulato.

We continue to catch the Humboldt giant squid in all of our fishing areas from Ensenada de los Muertos to Punta Arena. These are concentrated in good quantities.

This week we had Lyle Coleman fishing with us. He was searching specifically for roosterfish, but was not able to find them. Nevertheless, he showed us the roosterfish flag he had for the trip.
