LAS ARENAS PANGA FISHING REPORT
March 10, 2007, Tortuga Sportfishing, Las Arenas, La Paz, Baja Sur, Mexico, Gerardo Hernandez:
This week our La Paz fishing area had improved weather, with the wind decreasing and we are starting to feel the heat, with the last few days having high temperatures at 86 degrees and 74 degrees at night.
We have had calm and sunny fishing days. However, the fishing has not been very lucky this week.
The northern fishing grounds are still producing yellowtail and tuna, but with more difficulty this week. The yellowfin tuna caught are 30 to 40 pounds and the yellowtail are the same sizes.
We have also been catching pargos this week around Punta Perico and these have been 20 to 35 pounds.
There are large numbers of sierra around Punta Arena de la Ventana.
There are many sardinas, but we need to go to the north end of Isla Cerralvo for them. We have done this easily these last few days.
Anglers fishing with Tortuga Sportfishing this week included Jose, Rigoberto and Francisco Sandoval of the Los Angeles area who fished with Capt. Rigo Lucero for tuna, pargo, and yellowtail.
