YELLOWTAIL TO 30 POUNDS CAUGHT LOCALLY AT ISLA CORONADO
Jan. 8, 2005, Arturo Susarrey, Arturo's Sportfishing, Loreto, Mexico Fishing Report:
This week most Loreto fishing days had good weather, although some days were a little cloudy, with air temperatures between 59 and 73 degrees.
Fishing for yellowtail, the latest catches at Loreto are of a better size, more or less between 25 and 30 pounds. We hooked up on Coronado Island, Alfonso reef between Coronado and Carmen Island, and we also have a report from Loreto sportfishing guides that 35 miles north of Loreto at Punta Pulpito there is good fishing for yellowtail and Cabrilla in "good sizes."
Roosterfish and Sierra Mackerel are located sometimes at Mangle and San Bruno Bay, 8 to 10 miles north of Loreto.
Mackerel and bigeye bait is available on Coronado Island or at the Loreto marina by catching your own, or buy it early in the morning at the marina, at a price of 10 pieces for $15 U.S., and 20 pieces for $25 U.S. Also, Sardinas are available on the harbor early on the morning.
January 2, 2005, Arturo Susarrey, Arturo's Sportfishing, Loreto, Mexico Fishing Report:
Loreto has been very windy during the early on this week, but the fishing weather has improved. Rain came last night and today but without wind.
Some yellowtail are located around Coronado Island with an average weight of 12 pounds and the biggest weigh 20 pounds. We have fishing reports from local Loreto fishermen of yellowtail also located at the Pulpito area close to our San Nicolas Fishing Camp.
There are some seabass in the same areas as the Yellowtail.
Roosterfish are located at Mangle bay 10 miles north of Loreto more or lest, and they weigh 15 to 25 pounds.
