ISLA ILDEFONSO SPORTFISHING BOATS AVERAGE 10 YELLOWTAIL PER DAY

Feb. 18, 2005, Arturo Susarrey, Arturo's Sportfishing, Loreto, Mexico Fishing Report:

Loreto fishing weather has been very variable since last Monday. Some fishing days were sunny and others cloudy like yesterday and today.

Yellowtail fishing was kind of slow last Sunday, but it got better on the following days. That is what our San Nicolas Camp fishing group reported during the first days of the week. They were fishing in the area of EL PULPITO and Isla San Ildefonso, and they were very lucky catching lot of yellowtail and cabrilla during their last two days at the Fishing Camp. They caught about ten pieces per boat every day. Also, in fishing near Loreto's Carmen and Coronado Islands, we have had reports from local fishermen. Last week was not too good but it has been getting a little better in the last few days over at San Ildefonso reef.

Mackerel bait is available on THE PULPITO REEF, right at San Nicolas Fishing Camp, a lot of them early in the morning. Cabrilla are being caught in the same locations as the yellowtail.

We recommend jigs, 6x Junior, in colors like scrambled egg, blue-white, and yellow-green, and also the Squid brand YOZURI to troll, colors of pink and red-black, which where the champions last year.

Mackerel bait is available at Coronado Island, south side, early in the morning, and sardina in the morning in the Loreto harbor, $10 U.S. for plenty.
