BOATS FIND TOUGH FISHING IN WINDY SEA CONDITIONS
March 18, 2005, Arturo Susarrey, Arturo's Sportfishing, Loreto, Mexico Fishing Report:
Loreto vacation area weather has been very windy for fishing during the week since Monday morning. The ambient air temperature at Loreto is 60 to 75 degrees.
Yellowtail fishing has been pretty slow. Everybody knows that there is lot of yellowtail around the Loreto fishing area, but the wind was blowing hard from Tuesday through Thursday, and it was too rough to go out.
This week our fishing group lead by Richard Robinson over at the Loreto winter fishing Camp San Nicolas had a very good fishing day on Monday morning catching also some Sea Bass and Red Snapper. This was their only fishing day because of the windy weather. We expect it to be better during this week.
We have a Loreto fishing report from local guides that fishing is a little slow up north in the "Pulpito area." We have better weather today and better fishing. Some boats caught 3 and the best caught 5 yellowtail and some cabrillas.
The Yellowtail weighed 20 to 30 pounds, and the cabrilla 4 to 12 pounds.
Mackerel and big eyes bait is available on Coronado Island or at the Loreto marina, at a price of 10 pieces for $15 and 20 pieces for $25. Sardinas are $10 for plenty.
