YELLOWTAIL FISHING SLOW AT LOCAL SPOTS
April 8, 2005, Arturo Susarrey, Arturo's Sportfishing, Loreto, Mexico Fishing Report:
Yellowtail fishing at Loreto has been very slow. Anglers were catching some at Coronado Island "Lajas," north of Carmen Island "Vaca," and south of Punta Baja. The fishing is for one to three yellowtail per boat, of 20 to 29 pounds.
Some cabrilla are in the same Loreto sportfishing locations as the yellowtail, and the biggest weighed 10 pounds.
Dorado were caught while fishing east of Punta Lobos, 20 miles more or less. Andres and Francisco Romero caught two and three of them. The biggest weighed 20 pounds.
Loreto anglers are beginning to catch sailfish and marlin, north of Carmen Island, and also on the San Bruno reef. Mackerel and bigeye bait are available at Coronado Island or at the Loreto sportfishing marina early in the morning at the price of 10 pieces for $15, or 20 pieces for $25. Sardinas are $10 for plenty.
