CARNADEROS BAITSELLERS' FISHING REPORT

April 6, 2005, Nacho Davis, Loreto Carnaderos, Loreto, Mexico Bait Fishing Report:

We are fishing for bait at Loreto these nights, depending on the wind. We leave Loreto when the wind calms, with fishing locations dependent on the moon. These evenings, with less moon, we are fishing on the south of Loreto. One night recently, we caught primarily macarela. The past couple nights, we have fished with Sabiki style bait rigs as we are finding near puro jurelito. We call these style rigs "rendal con moscas." Rendal, bottom weight with branch lines, and moscas, insects. The jurelito prefer these rigs to cut bait. In the night time, when they are fishing here, macarela prefer the cut bait. We wait for the wind to stop. As we wait, warm fishing water is approaching Loreto. We are seeing "moscas voladoras" or flying fish. This time, moscas is associated with our word for flying fish. The dorado will follow.
