YELLOWTAIL FISHING IS BEST AT ISLA CATALANA
April 24, 2004, Arturo Susarrey, Arturo's Sportfishing, Loreto, Mexico Fishing Report:
Loreto weather has been very sunny and calm during the week, and fortunately, the fishermen and other people are enjoying their visits to our area.
Yellowtail fishing at Loreto has been kind of slow at the spots close to town. Most of the fishing has been on the north side of Isla Catalana, catching yellowtail of 20 to 30 pounds average weight, and about two yellowtail per boat.
Anglers had two days this week with better yellowtail action, catching up to six fish per boat.
While fishing for yellowtail, some sea bass and red snapper are being caught. Mackerel and bigeye bait are available at Isla Coronado, or can be bought at the Loreto marina, 10 pieces for $15, or 20 for $25. Sardina bait is available early in the morning at the Loreto marina.
